.
.
I have a session confession.
I collect beer mats.
There, I'm glad I've got that off my chest.
I only just started collecting them last week, so I don't have many.
When I say I don't have many, I mean, I've only got the one.
It's rather nice, though, don't you think?
I hope to be building my collection soon.
A friend of mine collects beer labels, but that's just daft.
.
Got loads for you.

ReplyDeleteThans, Glyn but i'm not really serious.
Was trying to do a whimsical ironic post about breweriana. I'm not really collecting beer mats though the one in the picture is rather nice.
the only thing I collect is beer. have you loads of that for me? I'm back down at the start of july.
got that, still going to send you loads though ;-)
ReplyDeleteGood post :) And that is a nice beer mat!
ReplyDeleteThe beer mats were printed letterpress by Edwin Pickstone (http://www.edwinpickstone.co.uk/) using hand-set wood and metal type. No electrons were harmed.
ReplyDeleteLovely fonts, especially the "beer week" one - looks like Franklin Gothic, always one of my favourite typefaces, except the 'r'doesn't quite match.
ReplyDeleteGood guess Martyn — it’s actually Grotesque No. 9, later digitised as Monotype Headline Bold, from a similar era as Franklin Gothic and in a similar style. It's also the same typeface that used to be on the Marston's Pedigree pump clip before its recent redesign. The word Glasgow is wood type which I rather doubt has ever been digitised, and the rest is Perpetua.
